I found out a few weeks ago that there's a way to go WAAAAAAAY back into tags on tumblr. Talking about general tags here like or something.

Yeah here's the page I'm using:

Basically when you turn off endless scrolling you have to click backwards/forwards to get to the next page. The link on each page has a series of numbers at the end of it that you can generate using timestampgenerator to copy/paste at the end of tumblr search.

Might not be new to some of you. I otoh was wracking my brain for how to backpedal into the past. Was angry a feature like this wasn't built into tumblr already.

Seems like my tracked tags list is going to be repurposed to a general list of things to timetravel into.

So after I reblogged this post and raged about tumblr, I decided to check out the Help page to see if the search method I reblogged was mentioned anywhere in their documentation. I am pleased to say that it is.

How do I search multiple tags or terms?

It’s easy, you just have to use the right syntax for your search. For example:
    •    picnic lunch - returns posts with the terms “picnic” and “lunch” anywhere (e.g., #picnic basket, or #lunch break, or a post using the word picnic).
    •    #picnic lunch - returns posts with the #picnic lunch tag.
    •    #picnic #lunch - returns posts with both #picnic AND #lunch tags.
Specifically I thought this was useful:

How do I search for posts within a specific blog?

You can do it from your dashboard. Click a blog’s name or avatar to open it up, then click the magnifying glass at the top of the blog. Now type. Type like you mean it. Get your results.

(And as we mentioned, you can filter and sort those results by clicking the abacus-looking thing next to the search field.)

You can also search a blog directly from the blog’s URL, as long as their theme includes a search field. But why take the risk? Just use your dash.

This method is slightly more easier than the method I reblogged (b/c you don’t have to type what you’re searching for in the URL).

I also found out that you can remove adult oriented blogs from your search if you toggle off adult-oriented content. But that’s only if you don’t want to see it at all, and doesn’t stop it from turning up in search results anyway for those who haven’t flagged their blogs for NSFW content.

But this has actually made me reconsider opening a NSFW blog, as I think it’s kinda stupid to keep my blog flagged NSFW when I only reblog NSFW content occasionally.

Also, this is something I had no fucking clue had been updated:

How do I tag my posts?

It’s as easy as you’d expect. When you create a post, enter the tags in the field at the bottom of the post form.
    •    You don't need to put a tag in quotes or start with a hash symbol (#).
    •    Hit enter to separate each tag.
    •    Only the first 20 tags on a post will show up in searches. After that, you’re just tagging for show.

when the fuck did it change from 5 to 20.

I think this is useful for blog cleaning:

To display posts in chronological order (older posts on top), add /chrono to the end of the tag URL (i.e.

On a different note I think I'm going to write about how much tumblr annoys me because every day I find something new to be pissed off about. Like, specific to tumblr itself; not the fandoms it hosts.

Oddly, I think I'm more at piece with the nature of fandom at this point. It still bugs me that ppl are harassed and shamed, but i've generally become accepting of the vitriol and toxic attitudes on there. (Probably helps that I'm only following about 60 drama free blogs at this point.)
